My wife and I have been married for 17 years. In that time we've seen some good times, but mostly, finance has not been our strong suit. Our credit scores are, putting it charitably, at the bottom of the ocean. My father passed away three years ago and left me as the executor of his estate. While, in print, that seems like a big deal, it really isn't. He left me the house I grew up in (value $360K+) along with his accumulated medical bills. I should note that 90% of my wife's and my debt is medical in nature. If we could access the equity in the house we could use the money to consolidate our debt and make some much needed repairs. But, because of our credit score, we can't. Frustrating doesn't begin to cover my feelings right now. I need some advice/help...ASAP.
